Our goal is carbon neutrality

In 2021, we scrutinized our operations and with the involvement of leading experts in the field of professional carbon footprint assessment and ESG evaluation of medium and large companies – Bureau Veritas and Planet Fanatics’ Network -, we measured the ecological footprint of our operations on a voluntary basis and evaluated our operations according to a system of sustainability criteria, the results and we created our sustainability strategy based on this knowledge. We are committed to climate neutrality: we will gradually reduce our emissions in the future. In the case of emissions that cannot be reduced, we consider long-term sustainable compensation to be followed. As the next step in our sustainability efforts, we are starting to measure and reduce the carbon emissions of our digital media portfolio, as the first company in the Hungarian press industry. The process will start in the summer of 2023 by measuring the carbon efficiency of blikk.hu, the domestic news site with the largest number of daily visitors, in cooperation with Carbon.Crane.

We fight to reduce food waste and deprivation

Our cooperation with the Hungarian Food Bank Association goes back many years. Together with our colleagues, we organize a charity cookie fair every year, and we donate the entire amount to the Food Bank. In the fall of 2021, 30 of our volunteer employees prepared dinners for 150 people in need as part of the JótéKonyha initiative. On Christmas 2021, we shared the joy of charity with our company’s key partners: with the gift cookie packages of the Food Bank, we not only provided sweet moments for our business partners, but by purchasing them, we also supported the preparation of 47 food packages per box, for a total of 5.5 thousand.

A city walk in the name of sustainability

With the involvement of the Sétaműhely, we have developed a themed city walking program called Planet-Friendly Budapest, through the stations of which participants can learn about a number of urban opportunities (including a packaging-free store, a donation shop, a community garden, a fair trade cafe) that can reduce their own ecological footprint.

GLAMOUR Wardrobe Upgrade

Since 2011, the editors of the style magazine have been organizing the Wardrobe Upgrade campaign, the purpose of which is to offer fashion lovers the recycling and exchange of clothes as an alternative to purchasing new seasonal fashion items. In this way, encourage customers to consume more consciously and curb excessive consumption. The project also draws attention to the global problem: the “textile disaster” is one of the most serious environmental pollutions in the world, which can be significantly reduced by spreading “second hand” fashion. In this process, the actors of the fashion industry, including the style magazines, also have a responsibility in this, which GLAMOUR magazine takes on and helps spread the new way of thinking with the regular Wardrobe Upgrade program. The campaign is completed by a charitable partnership: the entire income of the clothing exchange program goes to a selected charity every year. In 2021, the EMMA Association, which supports mothers, received the amount raised.

GLAMOUR Women of the Year – Heroine of the Year special award

Every year, the Heroine of the Year special award is given to an organization with outstanding social responsibility, so in 2022 the EMMA Association received this recognition. The goal of the women’s community connected through the theme of motherhood is to generate strength, knowledge and activism for an equal and inclusive society from their consciously assumed values, their individual experiences and the quality of their connections. In 2023, Vera Mérő, a writer, legal advocate, and founder of the Nem tehetsz róla, tehetsz ellene foundation won the Heroine of the Year award.
